This book is the primary reference a player needs to get started in the Dungeons and Dragons hobby. It's a great introduction for any aspiring player, and continues to stay relevant even after many sessions of play.

NonServ - 6 years ago. Finally, those days are back again. This edition is centered on the "Three Pillars of Adventure" which are exploration, social interaction, and of course, combat. Everything can be broken down into 3 types of dice rolls: attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws which all work using the same twenty sided dice mechanic. Honestly, with this book and the monster manual and maybe the starter set , all I need to do now is find some people who know how to play pencil and paper tabletop role-playing games appropriately.
