After a loss to open the week on Tuesday Dec. The Bobcats began the busy week before Christmas break with a hard-fought home game against Denver West Senior Brysen Long led Estes Park in scoring with 13 points, followed by fellow senior Zeke Darnell with eight, but the rest of the squad only managed a total of 16 points and the Bobcats fell, It was a great effort on defense for Estes Park who held a Denver West team averaging 59 points to just Senior Collin Reetz was a beast on the boards, snagging five offensive and four defensive rebounds.
We have a talented team, I think the biggest thing is just getting them to understand that they are capable of beating these higher level opponents. And that is what the Bobcats did when they went on the road to Wiggins to face the Tigers on Thursday Dec. Estes Park came back strong to lead at halftime and never looked back, finishing with a victory. Two other Bobcats are also closing in on achievements. Adamu stands at points and is on pace for 1, in his career. Belo is closer to that career mark with points.
Team trends continue to stand out for the Bobcats. The Bobcats are also when they keep an opponent to scoring less than 70 points. For those attending, the game is designated as a "Whiteout" as Bobcat fans are asked to wear white to the game presented by Universal Athletic. However, Mellott sustained an injury at the end of the drive and Montana State was forced to punt.
The Bobcat freshman signal caller wouldn't see the field again. NDSU rattled off an opening drive of 80 yards, followed by back-to-back possessions that covered 75 yards, to jump out to a advantage. The Bison extended their lead to by halftime. Following NDSU's opening drive of the second half that ended in pay dirt, MSU sustained a drive of 12 plays and 67 yards that resulted in a yard field goal by Blake Glessner. The Bison would convert on a field goal before the end of the third quarter.
All the boys successfully advanced on time. Have Boy Scouts teach the meeting. Use craft sticks and alphabet macaroni to spell out the Cub Scout Promise as a gathering activity at den meetings.
Print out the promise for the boys to copy. Have them sort the macaroni one word at a time and then glue the words to the sticks. Limit this activity to a few words or 10 to 15 minutes to keep it fun. This activity helps them learn the promise as well as spell it! It is more fun if the Tiger Cubs or Cub Scouts are being helped by other boys.
I took over a Bear den this year with two boys; when we got a new boy, they helped him learn his Bobcat requirements. You can also have older Cub Scouts help the younger boys since they tend to look up to them.
I photocopied the requirements from the handbook. At the first meeting, the Cub Scouts cut out the pictures and words and glued them to paper, creating a book cover and a bookmark for their handbooks.
We then were able to easily review the requirements at each meeting. Make it fun. We have refrigerator magnets with the Cub Scout Promise on them.
